Perhaps you are discouraged by dull,
nondescript large paper clips.
If you, like me,
love to surround your workspace with beautiful little things.
In this note, one of many ideas on how to do it simply,
having fun and getting a quick result.
Which will please you and surprise everyone who sees such beauty.
What materials will you need:
- large paper clips (I have almost 2 inches)
- canvas for embroidery (in a small cage) or any other piece of fabric on which it will be convenient for you to embroider
- a piece of fabric for the back side
- a glue gun (if you don’t have one, no problem. I’ll show you another way to attach a drawing to a paper clip)
- thin cardboard (I have a thick notebook cover)
- embroidery threads
- sewing threads
- needle
Some kind of a big list came out. In fact, I made all this from what I found in my drawers.
Well, let’s get started.
The most important thing is to decide on a picture-scheme.
What do you want to have on your paper clips?
What kind of picture on a paper clip will please your eyes?
There are a huge number of small embroidery patterns in handicraft magazines and on the Internet.
If you need help in choosing ideas, I recommend Pinterest.
But, be careful here, the main thing is not to get stuck in an endless search.
After all, there are millions of patterns.
Next, everything is simple.
You need to embroider a picture.
Since the patterns are small, the number of thread colors is small.
The embroidery will take about two hours.
I glued the embroidery with a piece of interlining. But, there is an alternative. For example, coat the embroidery with glue from the inside and a little fabric around it.
For now, let’s put the embroidery aside and get busy preparing the paper clips.
I cut out an approximate silhouette of the embroidery from thin cardboard.
You can attach the paper clip to the cardboard by taping it with tape (this is the least reliable method)
Gluing it with hot glue or sewing it with thread.
Next, I stitched the embroidery along the contour. Be sure to leave a hole in order to turn the pattern inside out.
Push the paper clip that is attached to the cardboard into the hole in the embroidery. All that remains is to sew it up with a needle. Any stitches.
